Product review: Great jacket, a couple of minor issues, good value for money The Megaton Drystar is stylish, hardwearing and comfortable. It is also great value when you compare it to other far more expensive yet inferior jackets. The fit is excellent and the material good and rugged. The '4-in-1' system works really well and the jacket is warm in winter and well ventilated in summer. And yes, with the lining in, it IS waterproof! A minor drawback of the waterproof liner is that it is not very breathable (not Gore Tex) so can be sweaty in high summer. Fortunately this is also the time of year with least rainfall :) On the plus side, the lack of breathability makes the liner excellent for keeping cold drafts out the rest of the time. The Nucleon armour inserts available from Alpinestars are great; easy to fit, inexpensive and offer a high level of protection. I have a niggle about the chest inserts in that it is quite hard to get them to stay in place and I often find myself having to put them back. This is a minor design issue which could do with ironing out. The major issue I have with this jacket is the main zip. It is just not good enough for the job it has to do and I am having major issues with it after only just over a year of wear. I will probably have to get a new one sewn in by a dry cleaner which, let's face it, is a pain in the balls. All in all though, I am extremely happy with this jacket and would recommend to any rider who wants to upgrade but does not want to spend too much. I wear it every day and love it it bits, zip issues notwithstanding. I am 6'2" and slim/athletic build. I wear a Large and it fits like a glove.
Recommendation Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
