    Arai Motorcycle Helmets



    Hirotake Arai created Arai way back in 1937 to provide helmets for the Japanese market, and could not have imagined the size to which the company would grow. Built using patented aerospace grade fibreglass for reduced weight, Arai helmets also benefit from a lower centre of gravity. Years of experience and technical expertise allow Arai helmets not only to meet but to exceed the demands of the riders who choose them.

    In 1981 a certain Ferry Brouwer, legendary figure and Yamaha Classic Racing Team founder, discovered Arai helmets and was instantly taken. A racetrack mechanic, it was during the world championships that he noticed them being worn by riders like Phil Read, Takazumi Katayama and multiple world champion Mick Doohan. Strong in his conviction that Arai had what it took to succeed on the ‘old continent’, Brouwer convinced the brand to launch itself into the European market. The 27th February 1983 marked the beginning of the label’s European adventure.
